Financial content affects real decisions, so we hold every article on site to the same process before it’s published.
How we choose what to cover
We prioritize topics that are currently affecting real household finances — changes to interest rates, student loan rules, credit card and Buy Now Pay Later trends, and the everyday budgeting challenges readers are actually searching for answers to. We aim to cover a topic in more depth or with a clearer, more current explanation than what’s already available, rather than republishing what other sites have already said.
Our research and writing process
- Primary sources first. We source statistics and rules directly from federal agencies (Federal Reserve, IRS, Department of Education, CFPB), major surveys (Bankrate, LendingTree, Gallup), and original reporting from established financial outlets — never from unsourced aggregator content.
- Human authorship and review. Every article has a named author. Articles covering financial guidance (YMYL content) are additionally reviewed by a named reviewer with relevant credentials before publishing, shown in the article’s byline.
- AI-assisted drafting, human-verified facts. We use AI tools to help with research organization and first drafts. No article is published without a human editor verifying every factual claim, adding first-hand perspective, and confirming the content reflects genuine editorial judgment — not an unreviewed AI output.
- Original data where possible. When we can, we publish our own surveys, calculators, or breakdowns rather than only summarizing third-party statistics.
Keeping content current
Financial rules, interest rates, and program eligibility change often. Every YMYL article displays a “last fact-checked” date, and we review older articles on at least a quarterly basis to update figures, rates, and rules that may have changed since publication. If you spot outdated information, please let us know — we prioritize correction requests.
Corrections policy
If we publish something inaccurate, we correct it as soon as we can verify the error, and note significant corrections at the bottom of the affected article along with the date of the correction.
Editorial independence
Our advertising and affiliate partnerships (see our Affiliate Disclosure) never determine which topics we cover or how we evaluate a financial product. Our writers and reviewers are not compensated based on which products or services they cover favorably.
Not personalized advice
Everything we publish is general information for a broad audience, not individualized financial, tax, or legal advice for any one reader’s situation. See our Terms of Service for the full disclaimer.
